May Day Knitalong 2013

Shetland Triangle Lace Shawl by Evelyn Clark

A traditional Shetland triangular shawl by the amazing Evelyn Clark.  Jeff and Will were excited to try this knit so we let them choose it for our next knitalong.

The pattern is available in the book Wrap Style by Pam Allen & Ann Budd, and also for individual sale here on Evelyn's website as well as here on Ravelry.

The shawl design is a top down, easily customizable triangle that is in the traditional Fir Cone lace pattern from the Shetland Islands.  The pattern has charted as well as written directions, and also gives yarn amounts for lace, fingering, shetland, sport and dk weight yarns.

We've chosen May 1st as our cast on date ~ a May Day knitalong!  If you're interested in knitting with us this time around, please send me a note on Ravelry ( here's the link to my page ) and I'll let you know what I need from you to add you to the blog so that you can post and share pictures as we knit together.

This will be fun, fun, fun!  Can't wait to get started on a new project with all of you as we enjoy the spring weather and sunshine and each other's company!

And if you want to get to know each other, here's a link to the post that lists everyone participating as well as links to their ravelry pages!

    1. I know ~ I was thinking laceweight (shocker!) but there's directions for so many other weights that now I'm not sure

we've got lots of time to decide (and change our minds!) before the 1st!

  3. Hello Everyone! My name is Susan and I am excited in joining the May KAL! This will be my first "real" lace project so you will hear a lot from me- just warning you all! The yarn I will be using is from String Theory: 76% superwash merino, 15% cashmere, and 10% silk. The colorway is a deep autumn rust. Thank you Melissa for your encouragement!

    1. I love that we'll be watching you do your first real lace, Susan! I'm even more excited than I was before that you're joining us!

Feel free to do your own post whenever if you want to share a photo of the yarn you chose (which had me at 'rust'!). The blog is yours til the knitalong is over ;)
