Speaking of knitting more ~ I recently had the opportunity to take classes with Stephen West and Steven Berg. I am already seeing their influence in my knitting, and feel myself moving in a new direction, toward free-form knitting. However, before I go off the deep end, I wanted to pay homage to this group by joining in the Knit-a-long! I chose a beautiful Madeline Tosh Sock yarn (from stash!) after looking through some of the finished projects on Ravelry, and seeing so many beautiful shawls knit in this yarn.
I also have a new friend to keep me company tonight while I knit. His name is Charlie Pickle, and he's a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. We're puppy-sitting for the weekend, but we are mighty tempted to keep him, and tell his family that he ran away! (Just a joke, we'd never actually do it.)
Charlie Pickle ~ Isn't he handsome? |
OK, off to cast on! I can't wait to see everyone's projects.
Much love,
Kelly Lightbeam
hello, Charlie Pickle :))) ~ Dozer would like you to come over for awhile and play!
ReplyDeletehi, Kelly!! I know we're losing you to the dark side that is the Stephen/Steven duo...you've kind of been gushing ever since you took that class ~ it was hard not to notice!
I'm glad you're joining us at least for one more kal ~ is that MT 'cove' or a different colorway? I loooooove cove but this looks like darker shades of blue and green than the lace weight I used for Bridgewater??
I'm a completely smitten with both of the Steph(v)ens, so I apologize if I've been sort of obnoxious ;) LOL, I might be headed toward deviating from patterns, but I'm still in the baby step stage, so don't count me out of KALs just yet.
DeleteOh, and the MadTosh colorway is Lowlands ~ an interesting combo of blue and green, which may or may not get overdyed to make more of an oceany color. I did add a packet of blue Kool-aid to one skein, and it's stunning!
DeleteKool-Aid altering madtosh.....you renegade!!!!!!!!
Deletedude ~ I just realized you have the same honeysuckle plant that I do!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, you and I definitely run on the same wavelength. Aren't they pretty?
Deletethey are sooo pretty ~ no scent (at least mine doesn't have one) but the plant was a surprise from my husband and the flowers are the same colors as my wedding bouquet so what it lacks in aroma it more than makes up for in sentiment :)
Deletethe hummingbirds love it ~ it's right outside my front door and when I left for work the other morning I opened the door and came eye to eye with one flitting by ~ we startled each other and both stopped dead in our tracks about a foot apart and sized each other up before it flew away
it was a frozen moment in time
Melissa, not sure it's legal to use "dude" and "honeysuckle plant" in the same sentence?... now that I said that you'll probably use it all the time.
DeleteGoody. So glad you have joined us Kelly, and I LOVE your yarn. Tosh is the best and your colors are yummy. Happy Birthday to the blog that keeps on giving (and growing). Hugs to all.
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly, I've always liked you and your name! Your yarn makes me want to reach through the computer and swipe that yarn, love that color way! Very Seattle Seahawks of you. (They play a week next Thursday by the way)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words about our little blog. So grateful that you're here.
Charlie Pickles is a handsome pup.
Can't wait to see your shawlette!
Kelli
Hi Kelly, it's nice to make your blog acquaintance and do a KAL together. Charlie Pickles looks like a great dog. The Lowlands MT is really beautiful. I would have picked it strictly for the name. I can't wait to see your progress. Happy knitting.
