wip it, wip it good ~ posted by Melissa

Just a quick update on the kal and other goings on...Seahawks preseason pregame show starts in 10 minutes and I aim to watch every minute (GO HAWKS!!)

I'm at the official 'halfway' point for the Streusel knitalong ( ravelry notes here ) ~ 40 stitches prior to my marker.  I've used just under a third of my yarn (27.5g / 144yds).

She measures 22.5" long and 8.5" wide without stretching my work at all.
I'm going to keep going with the increases.  Why not?  I've got the yarn and when such a simple lace edge looks this gorgeous....

...I'd be crazy to stop now!  How is everyone else doing?  Hoping to see some progress photos and hear how you all are enjoying the pattern!

I'm also on the downslope of my test knit ~ I can't wait til dandiliongrl releases her High Plains pattern!  I think it's going to be a huge hit!  I learned a new seam (she provides a link to a 'how to' diagram and instructions) ~ I can't remember ever joining a live horizontal edge to a vertical edge.

All that's left is a border and it's finished ~ I already highly recommend this pattern and I can't wait to make it again.  I had to stick to the pattern this time since it's a test knit but I have an idea rolling around in my head how I want to change it up just a little the second time around!

I'll make sure to share a link to the pattern when it's available to everyone else ~ until then, my ravelry notes can be found ( here if you're interested ).

And in case you haven't seen me gushing the last few days, Bonnie Sennott released a new pattern called 'Skipperling' ( my project page here ) and I don't think I can wait to cast on until I'm finished with these two works in progress.  I'm so obsessed with her pattern and the yarn I'm using which was a gift from my husband for our 20th anniversary last month :

And to top it off, Bonnie is offering $2 off her pattern through August 15th ~

Thanks so much, Bonnie for the generous incentive ~ I've told everyone I know :)

Gotta get ~ there's football to be watched and knitting to be done!

  1. Hey Sheldon, we were watching an old episode of BBT last night, and there you were! Uncanny.

Love your Streusel. It's more dense than mine. Eager to see Lightbeam's version, since her massive deviation. The poncho is absolutely PERFECT. I'm tempted.

You know what I think about Skipperling. I already have a couple questions, but I haven't started -- just looking over the pattern. I sent the link to Carolyn to see if I could tempt her. She needs to take advantage of the discount.

  3. Melissa you projects both look stunning. Also guess you and Penny have tempted me with that new pattern so guess I had better get it while the discount lasts as it sure looks like a beauty.
Penny not to worry, so glad you said something , if you hear anything thing please give me a heads up. LOL No seriously all is well. I was thankful you mentioned it.. and yes they do deserve a break as this has gone on way to long. I keep asking the Lord for healing and thought my prayers had been answered, but guess not yet.
but will keep praying about it.

  5. Yep, it's in my head for the night! ;)

Your knitting is always so inspiring to me Melissa and you make me want to run to my yarn stash and cast on right away. I have 24 rows left of my Recipe for a Textured Shawl and then I see a new project in my future.

    1. I can't tell you how many times I start a project and you pop into my head and I think 'oh, I know Tracey would love this!'

actually, I'm pretty sure I've told you how often it happens :)

looking forward to seeing your shawl...I've looked at that 'recipe' so many times but don't have the right yarn for it ~ it's worthy of some handspun alpaca I'm thinking

    1. you're welcome ~ I've been a fan for quite some time ~ her patterns are great and I don't think there's a design I haven't looked at more than once

I'm loving skipperling ~ I wasn't sure my brain could handle it at the moment but it's actually a good distraction and I'm having a hard time putting it down

  7. I've opted out of Skipperling. It's lovely, but slightly over my comfort level. I spent a few hours on it, and decided I'd be spending more time unknitting than knitting. I'll leave it to you experts. I might make a second Streusel with my Cascade Heritage Painted Yarn.
