Late to the KAL ~ by guest blogger Dixie

Hi Gals and Guys,

Nice to meet you! Extending hand.. From what I've seen, you are all extraordinary knitters!

There's not much in my stash, but after a lot of digging, I came up with a couple of choices. (The nearest yarn shop is an hour away in Montreal, or it's yarn by snail mail). My choice is a bit fuzzy; I'll see how it takes to ripping--not that I do any. ☺ Yarn: Melosa Lanas Paras - Cornflower Blue. (Forgive missing pic. I'm on a gismo, which, at this point, is winning.)
Since I am feeling adventurous, I think I will try both cast ons to see which one I like the best. My thoughts are on beads, but what to choose and, more importantly, where to put them. Any ideas?

Enjoy the stitching...

Everybody Knitting? ~A post from Kelli

hello!  Melissa here ~ just bumping up Will's awesome links in the comments below so that they're right in here with Kelli's hints ~ thanks Will for the extra effort...you rock!

Stephen West's cast on ~ Evelyn Clark's new & improved cast on ~ or just peek at how Will does it his way in his comment (good stuff!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For some of you who like visual help, I   went to YouTube  and found two helpful videos...
Type the words :  crochet chain cast on
 That took me to a great video you can click on,   this provisional cast on the pattern calls for.
then ~
Type in the words :  rotate edge shawl 90
 That took me to a video that shows how you pick up stitches and turn to pick up more stitches.
That hopefully can help you to your 7 stitches to start with.
If I can help anyone let me know.
We haven't hooked up Skype... but maybe someday?
Happy May Day KALing
Woot Woot! ~ post by guestblogger WillyG
My May Day KAL yarn is done, and the shawl is begun!
The yarn looks pretty now, but Jeff had to do some damage control while I was fighting with the plies; I found myself shouting at the yarn, "You're not friggin' mohair, so stop acting like it!" Did I ever mention how wonderful Jeff is? It was worth sticking with the sticky yarn, though, and the plied yarn behaved beautifully on the ball winder.  Woot!
On my Leaves Of Grass, I'm actually into Chart D!!!!  Another woot!
Happy May, and enjoy your Shetland Triangle! I know I will.
IT'S A FINISH ~ guest blogger Eileen
It has been snowing here all day, a foot of snow to present time here in Northern Colorado and no it has not stopped coming down yet. I was to be at a reception this evening with Justice Sotomayer, [ yes that would be the US Supreme Court ]. But with the snow and ice I decided not to make the trip to Denver, what a bummer ! But everything has a silver lining and I buckled down and finished Leaves of Grass.
As I type my shawl is in a soak soon to be blocked, after drying I will have more pictures.
May KAL - guest blogger Sue
Hi Everyone, I am so excited to be part of the Shetland Triangle KAL.  It is one of my favorite shawls to knit! I have made several, and will never tire of this pattern!  Am currently agonizing over which yarn to use for the KAL.  Any opinions are welcomed!
Sorry about the photo quality.  It was dark, so no natural light!
Can't wait to cast on!
May KAL - guest bloggers Carolyn and Penny
Hi everyone...
I dated this entry so it will fit below the Tulip Festival and Deception Pass posts.
My BFF... Carolyn, and I bought our yarn today. I have the feeling she made the better choice with her Filisilk (70% Merino, 30% Silk). She will never agree to post EVER, so I am adding her project to mine.
I went to "Serial Knitters" today and bought a different yarn from what I first posted. I felt like I might not like a variegated shawl. This is Zauberball (75% wool & 25% Nylon). The woman in the shop said this was a bit sticky, but I've knitted on it before. I wanted something that would look good with denim. :)
Good luck everyone. We look forwarding to knitting with you. Hope we finish ours before June "2014".
In it's infancy.
