with heartfelt thanks ~ posted by Melissa

thank you everyone that participated in the Rachel's Shawl fundraiser

we raised $500 in two months ~ I'm speechless

the retreat will continue and even better, I believe we've raised enough money that the Virginia Piper Institute may have enough funds for two retreats in 2014

thank you thank you thank you!!

    1. I was sad it wasn't more & then Rachel sent me an email the other day saying they made be able to add a spring retreat as well as their annual fall retreat next year. Warm fuzzies :)))

I still am in awe of how the Ravelry & blogging communities pull together for stuff like this when there's a need. I just played a small part in the whole thing, really!

  2. Melissa, two retreats is a wonderful thing and I am so happy that you made that possible with such a loving, giving heart. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.
I just ordered two skeins of Malabrigo Silkapaca to knit another Rachel Shawl, this time as a gift to a friend who's husband was killed last year. I think the pattern is beautiful and can offer comfort to so many.

    1. I love that you're making another, Tracey! This one was my eleventh and I haven't gotten tired of them yet (but I'm biased ~ hehe!)

I hope your friend will love hers and that whoever is lucky enough to receive the gift of your first one feels all the love you knitted into it. Thanks for your part in making the retreat(s) continue, my friend :)

  3. This is SO awesome!!!! My ladies are going to be so excited. Truly truly hope you all know what a GREAT thing you have done. Melissa, you are my hero. ;-)

May the world know that people DO care, that women DO look out for each other, and this awful disease isn't so awful when you have sisters to surround you with their comfort and love. May our grandmothers, mothers, sisters and daughters never ever ever have to go through this alone.

Rachel's Shawl offer a warm fuzzy hug.

    KNIT ON Ladies!!!
