Oct 14: I am re-posting photos, since Melissa and I decided this particular yarn would show off the pattern better against a dark background.
I'll add a photo of Carolyn and I together when she's done. In the mean time, this is my finished "Rachel's Shawl".
Sept 26 update: Just dawned on me that I ought to post a photo of the test "Rachel's Shawl" that I did for Melissa. The pattern was flawless, as far as I could tell, but I noticed she removed the markers in the one I bought. The original pattern is special -- I like markers even if they do creep around.
I'm for sure going to make a third shawl after this -- something prettier. It's such a pleasant pattern. We got a lot of bang for our buck with this one Melissa, and YOU did yourself proud. Looking forward to seeing them all.
Go Hawks!
FYI: Carolyn is also doing this KAL. She's lovin' it!
Looks richer/darker in person! |
Go Mariners!
Pretty I can't wait to get this pattern on my needles.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you could have found a smaller font for your halfhearted 'go hawks', Penny ~ c'mon...jump on the bandwagon, woman!
ReplyDeletearen't you excited to block this one since now you know that's when the magic happens?! :)
can't wait for you to share Carolyn's!
Yeah, I couldn't find a smaller font.
ReplyDeleteYES -- it just "pops" once it's blocked, but this yarn might not be as magical as my blue one. I am very anxious to try another yarn -- heavier. Hats first. Been tugged in diff directions, like all of you.
Don't be too excited for Carolyn's, because she bought the same yarn, but slightly lighter. She thought we were going to make socks and I had already started the shawl. Also, she wishes she used the size seven needle. I dropped down to the six and for some reason she did too. She's a much tighter knitter and I'm the opposite. It will be fine when it's blocked.
I'm envious of the lighter weight shawls ~ I'm rethinking my aran weight decision so it's sitting while I ponder about ripping it out and starting over....
Deleteboth your shawls will be amazing, I'm certain :)
Funny... and my next one will be heavier weight. I have to try it at least. Hey, how about those Hawks?
Deleteyes, how 'bout those hawks :)
Deletewhat a game...did you actually watch it??! are you coming over to the dark side, Penny?
Most of it, but I would rather something more wholesome like Big Brother and Survivor. Just saying.
DeletePenny look at you go... lace after lace pieces. Well done/doing~
ReplyDeleteAw shucks! Hey, I have some great role-models here. :)
DeleteGorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tanna. So far I have not seen one that I don't like.
DeletePenny is this one you are working on fingering weight or laceweight? I think it looks very light and airy!!! it...
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel... Initially I bought it for socks, so it's fingering 4-ply. I like it a bit better than laceweight -- but that's just me. :)
Deleteyour finished shawl is very dramatic, Penny! I'm a fan of lace & fingering weight scarves and shawls since I love the way they drape and they're perfect for wrapping around my neck and leaving on all day long without getting too hot
ReplyDeleteI love the weight you chose!
Oh good -- since I have little to no experience then I'll probably like the weight, too. This is something you could wear almost year round too. Never considered knitting with lace, but I find I like it. Funny, but there is less stress on the thumb. A plus.
