autumn whoooshed in ~ posted by Melissa

My favorite time of year is finally upon us.  Fall blew in with a blustery front this morning that will bring rain later today.  Perfect, since all I want to do is cuddle up under my Quill, knit and watch football:

I've got 19 rows left of the Old Shale Chart and then it's onto the lace edging.  I can't put this beauty down.  I love the weight of it in my lap and I'm still completely enamored with Brooklyn Tweed Shelter.  I'm already scheming about what sweaters I want to make with it!

How's everyone doing on their Rachel's Shawl?  I think we have about 10 people knitting but not everyone is blogging (which is totally okay!!).  I'd love to see more photos ~ the post yesterday by 'the other Melissa' made me grin from ear to ear!  Hand dyed yarn ~ awesome!!  I think Rachel herself is getting ready to cast on and will be doing a post on her blog to get Breast Cancer Awareness Month started with a bang.  I'll post a link when she does (or she may pop on here and post herself ~ wouldn't surprise me ~ she's everywhere :) ~ hehe!)

Enjoy the first day of autumn and if you're like me, hopefully you're finding a little time to tuck away for yourself to knit today!

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!

  1. Your Quill looks beautiful!!! I love the colors. I'll get my Rachel Shawl on my needles soon. Now that we are in school mode my knitting has slowed. The battle of getting the kids to bed on time and getting things prepped for the next day has cut into my knitting time. Also I was holding out for our farm yarn to come in and we got it last night!

    2. She has a name. We are calling her Rudee. I am still not sure of the spelling. My husband is a total mush for her so he got the final say on the name. I've been calling her every cute name under the sun. She is adorable. I don't think there is a better puppy on Earth :) But after a super long week I treated myself to a quick hat knit last night. It felt great to do a project in a few hours, but it turned out huge. Oh well.

  2. Happy Autumn Melissa. We are still warm here, but it did rain over night and it's been overcast all day so I can pretend it's cold outside.
I can't wait to cast on my Rachel Shawl and I may not be able to wait until the 12th, I feel that cast on itch starting. :)
And your Quill? Stunning my dear, just stunning!

    1. happy autumn to you as well, Tracey! you should wait til the 12th for Rachel's Shawl ~ the reason you are is worth waiting for :)

I'm happier with Quill than I thought I'd be ~ I was a little worried how my Old Shale Chart was going to look with the colors I chose but I love how it's knitting up after all (and doesn't it look autumnlike?!)

  7. Today is the perfect day to knit, too. I'm going to do that myself. We've had company since Thursday, family over, etc. Dave's bro is leaving in the morning, but today is D's birthday, so there will be food, games, and little knitting. And... I bought the new iPhone 5C that needs to be set up by Verizon -- also waiting for time. Life is just too much fun -- usually.
