A long awaited trip to Churchmouse Yarns & Teas. A day with my husband spent out and about enjoying each other's company. Christmas gifts received were carefully plotted, planned and well spent (thank you Trudy and Nanna). More BT Shelter for hats, bright happy yarn for socks and enough yarn for our just kicked off New Year's Knitalong. I'll get better yarn photos tomorrow in better light because, no, my Spire will not be golden and peach like you see above in the middle...not even close! There's still time to join if you're tempted (and if you are following along and want to post (Mara!) ~ don't forget to pm me on Ravelry so I can tell you what I need from you so you can play along :)
I love how excited everyone seems to be who has taken time to post...and I know by Kelli's silence she is almost finished (only half kidding!).
Thanks everyone for all the wonderful posts and photos and excitement ~ you make doing this every year worthwhile and something to look forward to all year long!
I need to wind some yarn so that's all for now ~ more to come tomorrow hopefully!
Happy knitting and happy new year! Melissa
(and I did snarf the drink menu above but only because I plan on trying this at home!)
What an adventure! Will you bring me there next summer? Lol, not even kidding. I love your yarn, and am anxiously awaiting your final choice!
ReplyDeleteab.so.lutely!!! you cannot come and not go to Churchmouse...I haven't told Kelli you're coming yet so this may be her first clue that we have an adventure awaiting us this summer!!
DeleteI am using that yarn in the middle but the colors look horrid because of the light ~ it was really dark and stormy today and I took the picture in the truck since it was going to be dark when we got home :)
better photo tomorrow, promise!!
Envious of your day out! Loved the narration.
ReplyDeleteit was a great day, especially since we've been homebound for quite awhile :)
Deleteit's hard to have a bad day with destination Churchmouse on the other side!
Wow, lots going on there...what a day.
ReplyDeleteOk now what yarn are you Spire-ing?
it's the sickly yellow color and peachy color in the middle but that's not really what the colors are ~ better photos tomorrow :)
DeleteWhoops almost for got, no not 1/2 done...but it was funny~
ReplyDeleteokay, but have you already finished an entire skein of yarn? be honest :)
DeleteKelli is cruising as usual. She told me she cast on at midnight. Her yarn is really luscious. I can't wait to see yours Melissa. I think that Kelli's goal for me to be done by Stitches is a little ambitious, but we'll see.
ReplyDeletefyi - Kelli always casts on at midnight (how long have you known her??)
DeleteI wish I could have gone!!!! The photos are fabulous and the yarn! oh the yarn!!! I wish you a happy new year my friend :)
ReplyDeletehappy New Year to you as well, Karen :)
DeleteI knew, as soon as I saw the ferry, where you were going! It looks like it was a wonderful day. I'll be following your Spire progress with interest, but only as an observer this time around. Maybe next year...
ReplyDeletelooking forward to your hikes & photos this year, Julie! I'm hoping to get out there more in 2014 and I'm going to pull some inspiration from your blog :)
DeleteBTW, I'm loving all that yarn. I had this *CRAZY* idea that I would go all of 2014 without buying any new yarn. Three days in, and I blew that resolution already. My Weaver's Guild has these bargain yarn bins, and I got a tip that they were going to be restocking this week. I walked in just as they were putting it all out, and one of the ladies pointed out all the best stuff. It was a foregone conclusion that I would bring a lot of it home with me...
ReplyDeletethat's why I don't make resolutions ~ I kick myself too hard if I break them so it's not worth it :)
Deleteremember, when you decide to destash all your new yarn, I get first dibs, okay?!
You know me well...I found a lot of good stuff. I'm not too hard on myself, but maybe I will reset my resolution...no one ever said you can't start over ;) Also, when I was at the guild, I brought my LoG, and my Prairie for the manager to see, because I bought the yarn for them there. She decided to do a feature on me as a fiber artist for the next newsletter, and took photos and the pattern details. Kind of exciting!
Deletewow ~ that is exciting!! you should post a link to the newsletter if it's online and if not, take a photo and blog it for us (I want to see!!!)
DeleteYeah! I will :) Hopefully, I'm not giving my secret yarn source away to too many people! Hahaha.
DeleteLooks like you and J had a wonderful day. He's a gem. Love the way you presented this outing, you clever girl. Always a pleasure.
ReplyDeletethanks, Penny ~ hey, it just occurred to me that I think you wrote somewhere you are working on Leaves of Grass??
Deletedid I imagine it or did you slip up and tell me what your secret knit is??? :)))) (this would make me soooo happy ~ you will conquer this pattern!!)
Yes, I did start "Leaves of Grass". I bought some yummy yarn on eBay and posted a snippet of what I did -- so fa on RAV, and then I was side-tracked. No secret. It is high on my priority list, besides doing more hats. Nice try kiddo. :)
DeleteI was wrong, I started "Heirloom". Maybe it was wishful thinking, but it was for sure NOT "Leaves of Grass". Sorry to disappoint. :(
Deletenot disappointed at all ~ I had forgotten you were doing Heirloom so it was a good reminder to go look at your pictures :)
DeleteCan you imagine me doing LofG? Well, yes you could, but my brain and body say, "Nope". It would be good for my brain, however. Keep those old cells from dying too fast. I'm loving Heirloom. :)
