Finished -- guest blogger Penny

Not only is it finished, but I wore it to church this morning, and why it looks a bit rumpled on the hanger. Thanks for inviting me to join in the KAL, Melissa. Eager to see all the other shawls.

  1. SO PROUD OF YOU PENNY!!!

it's fantastic ~ good job on your first big lace project ~ how did you like the blocking wires?

  2. Thank you. Yes, I did get compliments at church. Wires are going to be great, but the lighting was so bad on the dark yarn last night, so I pinned the scalloped sides. I would not use this yarn again, but it's pretty.

    1. Thanks for rescuing me. I was doubting myself and would have done anything to NOT un-knit again, thus -- the "help" post. I learned a lot on this project and feel a bit more confident.

    2. I was delighted when you posted your question... that 'crowd sourcing' part of the power of doing these KALs. Your questions are helpful not only to people who may have had the same question after you, but also in helping others think about their knitting in a different way.

    3. That's funny, because I felt hesitant posting an ignorant question for all you experienced lace knitters to see; I was desperate. I thought of calling Mel at work, but knew that was a no-no, so I waited almost all day to hear from someone. It all worked out. Here it is only May 27th. Heck if I hurry, maybe I can knit a second shawl -- not!!! Tnanks again Willy. :)

    4. that's why I encouraged you to ask your questions in the blog instead of sending me messages on ravelry, Penny ~ my opinion is only one of many and may not be the best solution, let alone correct :) ~ kal's are great places to learn among friends!

    5. I remember your advice, Melissa. I knew I had to swallow my pride, show my ignorance and learn from the experts. By the way, Carolyn and I will be blocking her shawl either tonight or tomorrow. She did 13 repeats and is on the edge. What a trooper.
