Two steps backwards and One step forward ~ guest blogger Steph

Oh man! The easiest thing about the last 4 days has been knitting and even then I have needed to take a bit of a mulligan. First let me start by saying I'm okay, I am on the tail-end of a flu (101.8 anyone?) that knocked me flat on my ass(I hope I can write this, if not feel free to edit away Melissa:).

So I am in catch up mode, I finally picked up knitting last night, my personal theory is that they doctor shouldn't take your temperature, but just ask you if you have lost any desire to knit. I feel like the biggest slacker ever because in between launching my blog (literally a day after) this is what happened to me. I also have had really mixed feelings about posting anything at all, because I didn't want to seek any attention for myself.

In the end I decided that it was best to explain why I had only made it through 2 repeats of Chart B  in my Ashby.... It has been way easier the second time around, but I have noticed one or 2 mistakes that I have made which I am trying to let go.. I think it is a knitter's prerogative right. You take out the ones that drive you up the wall, but leave the ones that at a bit of character.

I can't wait till this is done not because it is time consuming but because I have admired it for a long time.

So since it is a new day its time to get this thing done:) (Kelli and Mel doesn't this look familiar?).

  2. I'm glad you're feeling better, to have free time and not able to knit is all the doctor needs to know, somethings wrong.
Is that Greenlake, with Olympic Mountains behind those construction cranes and sunset? I didn't know mountains could be seen from there, which makes me think it's not Greenlake... looks peaceful.

    4. Yup it is we are .5 blocks from the lake. We love it here. Not having a yard isn't too bad when the park is so close( for those of you who don't know this is about 4 miles from downtown).

I can only image the beautiful views you have on Fidalgo island

  3. I won't edit that out, Steph ~ hope you're on the upswing and up off your arse :)

I love how the Shelter is knitting up for Ashby! And yes, that view looks incredible & familiar...the only thing that's missing is a hot cup of Pete's coffee!! Green Lake + Pete's = Heaven in my book

  4. Glad you're feeling well enough to knit! It really is a good gauge of health, isn't it? LOL. As for leaving mistakes in your knitting ~ When I learned that it's a Latvian tradition to knit mistakes into their knitting on purpose, (Because only God is perfect), it set me free! Now I usually leave at least one or two mistakes in there, and I rest easy with it.

    1. You are so right. I think there must be a tiny bit of Latvian in me because I seem to have adopted this philosophy too!

On another note, that gnome is like our unofficial mascot. Does he or she have a name?

    2. Melissa wants to call him Gnomenclature ;) We'll have to have an official vote!

  5. OMG, you are so not a slacker! My goodness you have had the flu and that is the pits. Knitting should be a comfort, not a race so enjoy the process, take care of yourself and have fun!

    1. Thanks Tracy, I decided to cast on another project that had some mindless ribbing, until I could get back to the Shawl. Your right I shouldn't give myself a hard time

  6. This is a guilt-free zone, Steph! Gnome-ore of that. Your yarn is lovely and I'm glad you're on the mend. Knit on.

    1. Thanks. I think the healing power of the gnome may be responsible for how I am feeling today.

  7. Hope you are feeling better. I got hit with a nasty cold just as I completed chart A so I am way behind. Love the Greenlake area - PCC, Title Nine, Road Runner Sports, Pete's coffee, and of course the lake- heavenly!

  8. Thanks. I hope you feel better soon. While I don't think the pattern is incredibly difficult, I don't think one should do it medicated or not when they are not feeling 100%. Trying to fix stuff on this project can be a real pain.

P.S. Glad to hear you like Greenlake too. Its a fun place.
