lost in a sea of green ~ a post by Melissa

progress on my Prairie ~ you can't see detail but it's the best capture of the clover green so far:

Kelli and I dropped our entries at the Skagit County Fair today ~ I entered this grassy green Watershed Vest and this thyme green  Miralda's Triangular Shawl :

I also entered this verdant green   Ophidian Shawl :

and hold on to your hats....this not green (shocker ~ it's boring brown!) Cold Mountain shawl:

Saturday we're entering the Evergreen State Fair and I'm glad to say that I'll be entering something rose, something mushroom, something gold and something multicolored (with just the slightest hints of green).  See, I'm not completely in a rut!!

Is anyone entering a fair this summer?  Have you in the past?  Did you love it? How did you do?  We'd love to hear your stories!

Meanwhile, knit on Prairie-pals!   ~ Melissa

  2. Lori ~ I entered the county fair 2 years ago on a whim and then my sister-in-law decided to do it also and we had so much fun that this is now our 3rd year entering the county fair and our 2nd year at the state fair. It's just a blast to do it together and we demonstrate one day at the exhibit so we get to sit and knit and talk (bonus!). It's been alot of fun :)

  4. You're at the top of your game, I can't wait to see how many ribbons you bring home! I'm also quite impressed with the amount of knitting you've completed on your prairie. I've lost my crochet needle, so I'm sort of off track already XD

  5. Kelly ~ sorry to hear you lost your crochet hook! I'm not working on anything but Prairie right now and it's pretty easy so that's the only reason why I'm so far along.

Also, thanks again for the surprise darning needle that you left in the yarn I bought from you...it came in handy today when I got my state fair knits blocked and saw snags in my lace (horror!) that needed to be fixed. You sharpened that needle to such a pointy point that I didn't have any trouble mending and now you can't even see where they were :)

at least I can't ~ they'll probably jump out at the judges!

  6. I knew that it would come in handy for you ;) It is horror when lace snags, but luckily, it sounds as though all is well!

    Knit on!
